Here are the answers to my email about is Franzia Merlot GF.
Thanks to everyone for their responses.
Linda in Pa.

--No, none of the Franzia wine is gf

--I am celiac, and also I make my own wine....only because I happen to have lots of blackberries and am allergic to the sulphites in
purchased wine as is mandated by the FDA.
I know of nothing in any wine that would hurt someone with celiac
disease or gluten sensitivity.

--It is GF.
In the 11 years I have been on the net, co-running the Delphi celiac forum and checking in all the gf sites, I never encountered any wine with gluten.

--Almost all wine is gluten-free. (I believe Carlo Rossi is, but you
might want to check with the manufacturer). Franzia states on their
website they are gf as they do not add gluten-containing ingredients,
but I and others I know who are gf have ALWAYS reacted when drinking
it...some of the "cheapies" add glutinous preservatives. I personally
stopped drinking it after many reactions, but would love to hear what
others say.
Some European wines use a flour paste when sealing their barrels, but
that is not too common...i'm pretty much a wino:) and have never had a
problem with anything but Franzia.

--I love Dry red Merlot wine, but I have never heard of a wine that isn't g/f
as it is made from grapes.
In case you are interested all of Smirnoff's list of 32 drinks made from
vodkas, gins,rums etc etc.

--I have no idea about gluten but all wine nowadays has sulfites added.
Sulfites give me identical symptoms to being glutenized. Sulfites are a
listed allergen in Europe and the UK but not here in the US.

--All wine is gluten free except maybe those Arbor Mist ones where they add flavors.
