I was just reading the February issue of Prevention magazine and discovered that they, in conjunction with Good Morning America, are "reaching out across America to find the woman who can teach us a thing or two about healthy living." They are looking for "smart, informed women who eat right (most of the time), exercise with some regularity, have managed a unique health challenge, and yet still keep their lives clicking..." and who are at least 40 years old. In addition to winning $5,000 for herself and a $5,000 donation to a charity of her choice, the winner's story will appear in the October issue of Prevention magazine. So my thought is this... If you, or someone you know, are a 40-year-old-plus American woman who has managed to get her CD under control, rather than it controlling her, and are an exerciser and healthy eater, wouldn't this be a great way to spread the word about CD? Even if you don't win, finalists will be profiled in the June issue of Prevention and their videos (1-minute long) will appear throughout that month on abcnewsnow.com for viewers to vote on (which is where all the rest of us would come into play!). If you made it as a finalist, you'd at least have an opportunity to mention CD, and I think that every little mention counts. Then if you were the winner, you would have another opportunity to address it in the profile for the October issue. I hope no one thinks it's a lame idea; I just thought I'd put it out there. I'm not quite 40 yet, so I can't enter myself, but I thought someone out there might be interested and think it a good idea as well. If you are interested, go to www.prevention.com and click on the link about 1/3 of the way down the page or go to www.abcnewsnow.com to read the rules and/or enter. If anyone does enter, be sure to let us know if you make it as a finalist so we can go vote for you in June!
