Does anybody know what the pharmacetical companies income is (including
generic), or how much society is spending on these drugs?

The following is from a FAQ in alt.support.attn-deficit:

11) What medications can be used in treatment? This is a constantly evolving
area. At the time of the writing (Jan 93) of this FAQ and known to this

 Phychostimulants (Trade name and chemical name):
   1. Ritalin (methylphenidate) also SR Ritalin (Slow Release)
   2. Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine)
   3. Cylert (pemoline)
 Antidepressants (Tricyclic or TCAs) used to treat bed wetting and depression:
   4. Tofranil or Janimine (impramine)
   5. Norpramin or Pertofane (desipramine)
   6. Pamelor (nortriptyline) principle metabolite of ELavil (amitripyline)
 Neuroleptics (usually used with stimulant):
   7. thioridazine
   8. Propericiazine
   9. chlorpromazine (unsure of category)
 Tranquilizers:
  10. Mellaril

 Antihypertensive:
  12. Catapres (clonidine)
 Others:
  13. antidepressants (called monoamin oxidase inhibitors MAO)
      fluoxetine or burproprion
  14. lithium
  15. Tegretol (anticonvulsant caramazepine) mood stabilizer

Also, how much is being spent on drugs for: Epilepsy, IBS, Rheumatoid
Arthritis, Schizophrenia, and other conditions that clear up, or improve,
when gluten is removed from the diet?
