Thanks to the people who emailed me about Martinique. It sounds like eating
GF is manageable if you can eat fish.

Here is a summary of what people wrote:

It was not one of my better places eating GF. See:
http://donwiss.com/travel/carib2003.htm#Martinique

Fresh fish, fruit and veggies abound!

You should do fine if you can eat shellfish and fish hopefully. They
frequently do things on the outside grill. I can't do butter either, so I
always ask just for olive/canola oil with garlic, pure spices, salt and
pepper. Margaritas are gluten free J Plain boiled rice should be fine, ask
how they season it if not - in foreign countries they generally don't use a
premix.. if there is a breakfast buffet you should be able to find fruit,
omelets. If you can do cheese, that's even better.

A link that may be of service:
http://www.martinique.org/discovery/culinary-magic.php It lists restaurants
on the island. I have no personal experience to offer except that when I
cruised to the Caribbean in 2006 I chose fresh seafood as a GF option.
