Thank you all who replied to my query about a replacement baking powder.
There have been so many of you replying with good advise, it is getting to be
difficult to thank each one individually.  It appears that I can use the
following mixture until I can obtain a supply of corn and gluten free baking
powder.  So now I will be able to have a birthday cake...and more!
 
1 Tbs. potassium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
2 Tbs. cream of tartar
2 Tbs. starch-arrowroot, tapioca or potato
