Hello, List.

While shopping in Wild Oats, Kimberly and I saw samples of Kettle chips. I
picked up the bag to check the ingredients, and was very impressed by the
detail given. Information was included about the sources of all ingredients.
I was happy to see the information, and bought two bags. At home I emailed
the company to thank them for being so thorough. Below is there response:

Hi and thanks for contacting us and we are very happy to hear you enjoy our
products and how we label them. Actually, as we have learned more about
celiac, we do not recommend any Kettleā„¢ brand products to people who have
gluten sensitivities. Sorry! L

Below is what we say on our web site. Please let me know if you have any
questions.

Due to potential cross-contamination, none of our products can be labeled as
gluten free:

Kettle brand Tortilla Chips are Wheat Free <I style="mso-bidi-font-style:
normal">but are not Gluten Free. We make seven varieties. Two flavors
contain rye, buckwheat or barley, which contain gluten. There is the
possibility there could be trace amounts in the other flavors.

Kettle brand Krisps Baked Potato Chips, Kettle brand Chips, Krinkle Cut
Kettle brand Potato Chips, Kettle brand Roaster Fresh Nut Butters and Kettle
brand Handcrafted Quality Nuts <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">cannot
be considered Wheat Free or Gluten Free. These products are processed on
equipment shared with ingredients that contain small amounts of wheat. We do
not recommend that people who are sensitive to wheat or gluten eat these
products.

For more info on our products please visit the FAQ page on our web site at
www.kettlefoods.com

Thanks again for contacting us and please contact me if I you have any
further questions.

So folks, as disheartening as it is, we still must call and confirm GF
status, even with the amount of info some companies are willing to give. It
is very discouraging...
