I have to jump in after this wonderful post and make a few comments
about the cerals that are referenced.  Some of these may not be GF or it
may be the use of a local name for what I consider a US national brand.
The ones that come to my attention immediately as having a possible
problem do to their use of malt are: Kelloggs Crispix, Frosted Flakes.

Rice Crispy Treats, I suspect are also a suspected item.  Regarding
Pebbles, I just do not remember which one is ok.
