Thank you all so much for responding to my post. It is such a relief to know
that we are not alone in our struggles!! To recap, I had asked about
controlling the itch associated with DH and whether it seemed that my
daughters rash sounded like DH (she is 10, diagnosed last August with CD and
has been - as far as I know- on a gf diet).

I spoke with her GI over the phone on Monday (he is 3 hours away), describing
the situation and he did not feel it was CD related, but that she ought to
see her GP. We went to see the GP Monday afternoon & he did not feel it was
CD related either. His diagnosis was psoriasis & prescribed hydrocortisone
cream & zyrtec for the itching. He would like her to come back in two weeks
if it is not better.

Anyway, here is a summary of your responses:

16 people felt what I described sounded like DH
2 felt there was probably no CD connection
Several people told me she was obviously getting gluten somewhere and that
she really needs to stick with a gf diet :)
5 people thought Dapsone (a prescription drug, I assume) was the answer,
though it has many side effects
4 people mentioned the fact that iodine should be avoided, but I'm not sure
   why
Several mentioned that an outbreak could be triggered by stress & that gluten
did not necessarily have to have been ingested recently because of the
   IgA deposits under the skin.

To help with the itchies:
    aloe vera
paste of baking soda & water
    tylenol
benadryl (which is what finally got her to sleep Sunday night!)
    ice packs
    cortisone cream
    tea tree oil
spending time in the sun seems to help dry it up
    lotrimin
    calamine
& several other drugs available by prescription

The hydro-cortisone cream seems to be working for my daughter. The rash is
not anywhere near as itchy as it was & is no longer red, but she still has
many bumps/blisters. I think I neglected to mention that she also has the
rash on the soles of her feet & the palms of her hands and fingers as well.

Thanks again for all your help!
