Listmates:

I am seriously considering joining some friends in a condo on Kauai
in November and have been searching for information about the
availability of gluten free foods there. I am not as concerned about
restaurants as most are manageable.

The Archives did not have a great deal about Kauai. One post from
September 2, 2001 (#39) had information about gluten free groceries
in Kapaa, Kauai.

I did a Google search for information about Kauai and located a great
site: http://www.trykauai.com

On the site there is a grocery store list for Kauai. It is a great
list with a short description, location, telephone numbers, and
hours, along with some personal commentary. In addition there is a
map and information about drive times to various parts of Kauai. I
could figure out how far it would be to a source of gluten free
foods. I registered at this site and in the comments indicated that
I was in search of gluten free groceries. The site's creator sent me
some more helpful information about finding healthy foods there.

Kauai sounds even better than home with the grocery store
resources--I will summarize after I go in November. I am sharing
this information in case anyone is planning a trip to Kauai.

P.S. I have no financial interest in trykauai.com.
