I recently contacted this restraunt chain with a simple observation and got back quite an email.
Beware when eating at chipotle.
maybe my email came off "mean"

Please read the response below along with my original email to follow that one.

We mean no offense to you at all, but a better solution for us, instead of utensils, would be to ask our team to use a new pan of cheese and lettuce, which we are happy to retrieve for you in order to accommodate your son's intolerance.

However, we don't wish to use utensils or tongs with our cheese, as that would make it clumpy. We like to use our hands to make it easier to serve and spread our cheese on someone's order. The same goes for our romaine lettuce. We don't use tongs with our romaine lettuce for close to the same reasons, because tongs would not be helpful for spreading it evenly and would also bruise the lettuce.

All you have to do is make your requests known and we'll help you out. That being said, we encourage each of our guests with sensitivities to carefully consider their dining choices as we are not a "gluten free" restaurant and cross contamination could possibly be an impeding factor.

> I'm extremely happy you have many gluten free choices, I'm happy everyone changes their gloves and uses tin foil when making gluten free but your cross contaminating us Celiac disease people & I don't think your company realizes it. The lettuce and cheese CAN NOT be eaten by us for your employees are grabbing the food with wheat contaminated gloves and swipping excess back in from the sides. I've eaten a few tine and could not figure out why my son was being sick until I watched carefully of how your employees prepare "regular" food. It's a shame myself and others won't be eating at your place anymore. Please have your employees use tongs to spare other unexpecting people the week of sickness my son had. Other than that- good work :) Darcy Gautsch
