Hi All--

Is there anyone on the list who knows if there is a connection between CD
and mastocytosis (an overabundance of mast cells in the body, which
produce histamine as reactions to foods, viruses, bacteria)? Sorry for yet
another question about "connections," but as a result of a skin biopsy
done to rule out DH, results indicated an elevated level of IgM, which is
rare - especially since the biopsy was done a month after the rash
cleared. Symptoms of mastocytosis include malabsorption, gastrointestinal
problems, rashes, and rarely, mast cell leukemia. Mastocytosis is a rare
disorder, classified as an "orphan" disease, but because it shares so many
symptoms with CD, I thought perhaps someone would have some knowledge of
it.

Thanks for any info anyone can share. I'll summarize.
