Here is the update from Kirk Gardner:

--=====--=====--=====--=====--=====--=====--=====--=====--=====--=====--
Nearly 200 people have contacted the Center for Celiac Research at the
University of Maryland School of Medicine and made gifts or pledges
to support the Celiac study being undertaken by Dr. Fasano and Dr.
Horvath. While nearly $50,000 has been raised or committed, there is
still a long way to go to make the goal of $600,000.

For those who may be new to the list, the Center for Celiac Research
is seeking funds to undertake a national multi center serological
study to definitivley establish the prevalence of Celiac Disease in
the United States. The results from a preliminary study indicate that
the existing medical orthodoxy that Celiac is rare is wrong and that
in fact, it may be the most common chronic genetic disorder in the
country. If you would like a copy of the study protocols, contact Kirk.

The audio tapes from the conference on Celiac that was held in
College Park are now available and can be ordered by contacting,
Vicky Roach at the Center for Celiac Research at the above address or
at 410-328-0812.

In addition any one who is interested in ordering a copy of the 2
minute video that was distributed to 70 + TV stations around the
country last week that features Dr. Fasano on Celiac Disease can also
contact Vicky.

The cost (which covers the cost of tape, reproduction, shipping and
handling) is $14 for the audio- tapes of the conference and $15 for the
video tape. The video is expensive for just two minutes and for those
who wish one, a transcript will be available. Again contact Vicky
Roach in the Center for Celiac Research.
