Since there have been a few inquiries regarding gf communion hosts for
Catholics, I offer the following:

The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetural Adoration at Clyde, Missouri,
now have low gluten altar breads available for those with Celiac
Sprue who have received the permission of the local bishop to use
low-gluten hosts. A medical certificate certifying one has the
disease is required. The hosts are low gluten - not gluten free -
and they meet the requirements for validity and liceity as outlined
in the June 1995 response from the Congregation for the Doctrine
of the Faith.

The low-gluten altar breads come in packages of 100 at a cost of
$6 per package. To purchase the low-gluten altar breads contact:
Altar Bread Department, Benedictine Monastery, RRl, Box 101,
Clyde, Missouri 64432; Telephone 1-800-223-2772.

I have tried them with no noticable reaction. Remember they are
low-gluten - not gluten free.
