Hi Listmates,

I am trying to lower my blood sugars by using a green drink to go more
alkaline. I purchased an expensive green powder, by Barleans, which is labeled
gluten free.

The ingredients of the powder include: wheat grass, barley grass, oat grass
and rye grass. When I called the company, they said they harvest the
grasses before the grain develops and it is safe.
Their response and I quote:

Hello Jill,

Thank you for contacting us. We have the product tested for gluten in a
third party lab. The formula tests out at <5 parts per million. This is the
lowest detection the lab is able to offer us.
The limit to be considered “gluten free” is <20 ppm in the USA.
The grasses are harvested before the stage that the grass shoot is able to
produce gluten.
I am surprised that you had a reaction—did you take a full dose or just
place a little on your tongue? Please share any info you can—we know how
important it is for celiac to avoid gluten.
Best of Health,
Alene
Has anyone had experience with green powders or Barleans specifically?
Thank you for your attention and I will summarize.
Sincerely,
Jill
