I checked with Ansett Australia here today and the Australian Medical
Advisory Board has brought in stringent requirements for coeliac and other
diets when provided by airlines etc. Ansett Australia are therefore not
going to continue providing GF meals, as they cannot comply with the
requirements which have been imposed. The woman I spoke with thought it
might apply to Qantas also, and I will check with them.

However at present in NZ Ansett and Air New Zealand still provide GF meals,
as we don't have the same restrictions. I have not experienced any problems
with their meals in 2 1/2 years of flying GF. Presumably all meals provided
ex NZ kitchens on any international flights will be as they currently are,
which means GF and diabetic as well as kosher, vegan etc are available. If
I find out more I'll post it, but if you're flying in OZ it may be as well
to pack a lunch!
Sue
