I think this is a good topic for discussion (although it was a bad
day/experience for Brit) I'd like to hear other's ideas about how they
cope with situations like this.
Creative solutions......... brainstorming

The celiac mom who survived Halloween with a cel/dm daughter! I think
she will be o.k., but we have had some real inconsiderate parents at
school that refused to have apples (even though we had been told apples
would be there) at the Halloween Party. The story is a dissertation in
itself, but the school is going to enforce a policy that there must also
be a healthy food at these parties. We will see what happens. <snip>

How have others dealt with these sticky situations? It was really
difficult for me the first few situations where I was surrounded with
gluten laden foods & no safe alternatives.
One can only smile & eat carrot sticks for so many events before this
routine gets old.
Certainly a young child would have a harder time coping.
