Dear Esther There are blood tests that now determine if you have the
anitbodies so get those as soon as possible. But I hate to be the
bearer of bad news, you must not be off gluten until the tests are done
or you will have false readings. A biopsy is the best form to determine
as they can tell what damage is done to the filli and whether you have
or have not celiac disease. My daughter is 10 and has both diabetes
and celiac disease. She was not showing the normal signs of celiac but
when the tests were done, it proved it completely.I make many recipes
for her now from scratch and she cannot just shun gluten. She must
maintain Gluten free. there are some great celiac sites to go look at
for help on recipes and what to avoid.Feel free to email me at
[log in to unmask] for any further help. I am in Nova Scotia
Canada but research alot for our Children's hospital as there was no or
little help there for meals when my daughter first became ill.
Diabetes and celiac disease do go together and it is also inherited
usually in families for your information. Keep in touch and I pray all
works out well for you. Sincerely Jana
