Hi everyone,

I'm new to the list and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Mary
Barbera. I have 2 sons--Lucas 4.2 with mild autism and Spencer 2.8 with
possible celiac disease. We are taking them both to a GI specialist next
Tuesday. Although only 1 of his tests on the panel was positive, we put
Lucas on a GF/CF diet a few months ago. There have been recent reports
stating that Gluten Free diets help autistic symptoms. We have noticed some
positive results but now Lucas seems intolerant of other things (corn, canola
oil, ???).

Spencer is not autistic. He is advanced verbally and socially. He has had
diarrhea and non-formed stools most of his life. I breastfed him until after
his second birthday. His weight went from 10% to under the charts shortly
after. I convinced the MD to test for celiac. Two of his panel - IgG and
IgA- were both high. The other two results were normal. I didn't officially
start the GF diet on him but did cut back on gluten and eliminated corn. His
stools are more formed and I think he's gaining weight.

I'll keep you all posted. Any feedback would be great.
