Hey all,

Some of you will probably recall that I had a cochlear implant done in my
left ear last year - the results have been great for the most part, except
in one big area - speech disrimination and sound discrimination in noisy
environments (not that I ride a motorbike or anything like that, you
understand! ;) ).

Anyway, I went through testing back in July and my audiologist determined
that I qualify for a bilateral implant - that is, an implant in the other
ear - and the surgeon agreed with her when I saw him last month.
Fortunately the surgery was precertified by my insurance company and I am
to have it done on Sept. 29 - so close! I'm really excited about this
because hopefully I shall be hearing fully in stereo for the first time
since I was five.

I will be home for 2 weeks following the surgery and then go back to work
fulltime. The surgery is outpatient and I will be in the hospital for one
night.

So exciting....! (even if it is the second time!)

Kat
