Four Legged Heroes Continue to Save Lives in Israel

Terrorists waiting in ambush to infiltrate into Jewish border towns in
Israel, view these four legged fighters as their worst enemy. However, if
you are Jew waiting for rescue then you will consider service dogs to be
your best friend. The dogs bred, raised and trained by the canine defense
unit in Kfar Tapuach continue to save lives in Israel.

The Canine Defense Unit In Kfar Tapuach is now celebrating its 7th
anniversary. This unique civilian volunteer unit was established to offer
additional security in Judea and Samaria as well as in other vulnerable
areas throughout Israel. The Tapuach Canine Unit aided Israeli security
forces in tracking terrorists and in preventing at least 4 terrorist
attacks, with the help of specially trained patrol dogs and tracking dogs.
Hundreds of guard dogs have also been supplied to hilltops and "settlements"
throughout the land. The Unit's success in breeding and generating excellent
patrol and guard dogs for the Israeli security industry has inspired Israeli
Fire Departments to incorporate dogs into their rescue teams. The Tapuach
Canine Unit has now been contacted to aid in rescuing lost or trapped
victims with SAR dogs.

This fascinating project will mark the first, joint course with the
Volunteer TA Fire Fighters in which the cadets are learning search and
rescue, fire fighting, medic and dog handling of SAR dogs to seek and rescue
people from fires, car accidents, earthquakes or collapsed buildings due to
terrorism or other causes. God gifted dogs with sniffing senses far superior
to any technology known to mankind. A good trained dog becomes the most
valuable component of a rescue team, when searching for survivors, while
there is still time to save them, if detected in time. Every minute counts.
The firemen are among the first on the scene and countless lives can be
saved if the firemen are equipped with all of the necessary rescue
instruments, including operational Search and Rescue dogs. To date, there is
no fire dept in Israel that merges the rescue fire-fighting courses with
medical training and with SAR dog handling. It is an honor to have been
chosen to supply the course with dogs and handlers to, G-d willing, form the
FIRST firefighting, medic, canine rescue unit in the land.

Six of the 24 cadets in this first course will be trained to operate and
handle 3 specially trained SAR dogs that are being brought in from Europe.
The fire station is currently building suitable kennels to house the dogs
upon arrival. The Tapuach Canine Unit is still in desperate need of funding
to buy, train and maintain the dogs. Anyone interested in joining future
courses and anyone interested in helping to sponsor this vital life-saving
project are welcome to send a generous contribution to Dogs For Israel POBox
6592 Jerusalem, Israel or to donate online

Another canine project: A new patrol dog course will soon begin in the
Shomron with 15 yeshiva students who will be studying Torah combined with
the study of operating patrol dogs to defend "settlements". There are 15
students and five dogs ready to commence training as soon as there is
sufficient funding to finance the new kennels and instructors. Please show
this email to people who might be interested in learning to be dog handlers
or to people who could help sponsor these new projects to help save lives in
Eretz Israel.
