James, no hernia, but appendectomy, and not athetoid but spastic CP.  One
thing I can say is that it made it harder to get out of bed, and up from
chairs, etc.  Also increased spasticity level (this was back before I
startecd taking anything for spasticity again).  If possible, get a consult
with physical therapy before you're discharged from the hospital for
specific pointers on how to do things in light of your CP with an abdominal
surgery
