Hi - my six year old son and one other New Zealand CP are trialling the new
Russian therapy for cerebral palsy under supervision of a New Zealand-based
Russian Neurologist Dr Andrei Schapov. The treatmment has been developed at
the Primevera Medical Institute in Moscow - and is now being administered
at six special clinics around Russia, one in the Czech Republic, Cyprus and
London. info at www.primavera.co.ru (It's in English too!). After a week
on Amino acid combinations tailored to get the brain talking to muscles -
Nicholas suddenly gained some head control. When held on a bench in a
sitting position, his head hung forward and he could wobble it from side to
side. Suddenly last Sunday - he pulled his head to the normal upright
position for 10 seconds or so Twice ... and did it all day Monday for my
wife who couldn't believe it ! Like most people we were told there was no
treatment for CP that was effective -now we have hope - with the rest of the
year to run on the course. It is being independently assessed by a research
neurologist at Auckland University. We think other parents would want to
mknow about this therapy. Wilson Owen @ [log in to unmask]
