In political campaigns, anything that can be used to question a candidates
fitness for the job, or electability will be brought up. In Florida
in 1950 a candidate (Smathers) campaigned against his opponent (Claude
Pepper) by saying his sister was a known thespian, and saying Pepper was a
septaugenarian (although Pepper was only 50). We all know thespians are
actors and septaugenarians are in their 70's, but the tone Smathers used was
so nasty some people accepted the terms and thought the worst. Pepper lost
to Smathers in the 1950 election.

Here's a good checklist to recognize political bullsh** from the League of
Women Voters that was posted on a "local" TV stations' site.

OK, it's Denver, but Wyoming's television stations are painful to watch. We
had Pete Williams back in the 70's and 80's but he was too good to last in
our market.

Kendall

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress
depends on the unreasonable man.

-George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950
