My Aunt just had this surgery a few months ago.  What her Dr. did is to
tie the muscle instead of cutting it.  He said that sometimes this
surgery has to be redone a few times.  Tying it leaves you with options
later.  Her surgery was successful the first time, but I had a friend
who had to have it redone once.
