Dave,
I looked up some information that may be useful to you about some of your
treatment options. First, the VNS you spoke about I found out that out of
440 study objects who used VNS, 316 had the device removed mostly because
they felt it was ineffective. So, to be honest I don't know if that really
is a good treatment, especially when the majority of a group does not feel
that it is effective.

I also looked up some information about the medications you are on now and
found some interesting information that opened my eyes real wide.
Lamictal- side effects: if any of the following is experienced stop taking
and seek emergency medical treatment or notify your doctor immediately:
-allergic reaction
-rash
-swollen lymph glands
-sores in mouth or around eyes
-worsening of seizures
Less serious side effects-
-dizziness, drowsiness, blurred or double vision, nausea and vomiting,
headache, lack of coordination, insomnia, tremor.
Tegretol XR- serious side effects:
-allergic reaction
-liver damage
-chest pain, high blood pressure, or congestive heart failure
-numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, arms, or legs
-body or muscle jerks
-confusion, slurred speech, or fainting
Drugs that will affect Tegretol:
-Dilantin
-Lamictal
-Zarontin
-Klonopin

You can go to onhealth.com for more info.

I read this and it made me think, it's about time me and my doctor had a
talk about the medication. Dave, maybe that is why your seizures are not
under control (because the Lamictal interfers with the Tegretol) who knows.
But maybe changing neurologists will be for the best.

Kim
