i owned a 44 mag dan wesson when i was single. i got out of gun ownership
when i had a child. i was more worried about a kid getting hands on a gun,
more than someone breaking in on me.

yes, sir, number 1 shot will stop anybody. if it don't, everybody better run
from this bad sucker.

If it weren't for the metal detectors, I'd have one on mine. In Ohio, you
can legally carry UNconcealed, but I've not seen anyone try it in an urban
area. I don't really care for handguns--too easy for kids to get hurt and
too easy to grab one when you're angry. I've never owned one, and probably
never will. A 3.5" 12 bore with #1 shot will stop even the most whacked-out
individual. You don't need to worry too much about shot passing through the
walls, either. Just pray that it doesn't get anywhere near this insane.
Like I said, this is so freakin' surrealistic I feel like I'm going nuts
along with this guy!

well, go to florida and try that. take the cops advice.

a year ago our security was as yours, even at the labs as far as i know. 911
changed that. now our security guards carries a 9mm on their hips.

Update: This guy is still "suspended", pending some sort of mental eval.

Oddly enough, our building security is unarmed, though we may have a hundred
or so (armed) cops in the complex at any given time. Our "emergency
procedures" are to call 911--I kid you not! Our only "protection", if you
will, is airport-style xray/metal detectors at each entrance. Since this
email might be viewed by others here, I won't tell you some of the objects
I've innocently brought in undetected.

So......here at work I am pretty much unprotected. At home I have an
escalating array of lethal and non-lethal protective devices.
Unfortunately, both entrances to the house are on the north side, so an
undetected escape would not be possible.

I might be able to travel to Florida for the first few days of his return.
Since he has trouble remembering events, it might be enough time for
everything to filter out before I got back.

I HAVE documented all of our contacts, but have not submitted them to
management, due to their inability/unwillingness to profer additional
protection. Another slant is that he may really have them "by the short
hairs", in that they may actually have done something unethical and not want
me to carry it up the political food chain.

Anyway, as Laura told me, I think I've got myself pretty worked up over
this. I can't afford to lose sleep over what might happen. My cop friend
put it another way: "If he comes into your house uninvited.....keep pulling
the trigger 'til it snaps on an empty chamber, then call me." I guess Ohio
has liberalized the "castle doctrine" in order to prevent a concealed-carry
bill from passing.

Anyway, that's where it stands at the moment. Kind of surreal, and I wish
it were someone else, honestly.

Oh man, you really needed this, didn't you?

Your employer is afraid of this man, and they want you to be the fall guy?
Kyle, because of their failure to provide you with a safe workplace, you now
have to be concerned not only for your safety at work, but for your family's
safety at home.

The fact that he is attempting to forge an allegiance with you is
disconcerting enough, and all the more reason for you not to be involved at
the official end. You don't need to have the additional worry of what he
might do if he perceives that -- of all people -- it was another person with
a disability who betrayed him.

I understand the organization is in territory that scares the hell out of
the
most sturdy CEO's, but the heads of your organization allowed this to
develop
in full knowledge of not one, but two prior assaults. Is your employer
saying that assaults can go on in your organization without supervisory
intervention indefinitely, as long as the victims themselves don't file
complaints?

Screw their idea Kyle. There is too much potential for danger. I know they
didn't plan for this man to contact you, and for things to unfold this way,
but screw their idea still. Your big job now, thanks to whomever failed to
act in the safe interest of the employees of your organization, is safely
weaning this guy off of you.

Betty
