I've been very lucky in that I can only recall one job in which I felt like
a cog in a wheel, or caught in wage-slavery, and that was because the
person who managed the department was into scientific management (50 years
too late) and a real penny-pincher. In the two years I worked there, all
my pay raises were in increments of 5 cents to 10 cents an hour for
part-time work. Fortunately I only worked there for 2 years.

Age, especially when it is accompanied by wage-slavery, can either make you
bitter and cynical or reflective and pragmatic. I live for Saturday
mornings! (cartoons with my kids!)

You can say that again! When I look back at myself 20 - 25 years ago, I
marvel at how naive I was. I saw everything in terms of black and white,
no shades of grey and made very little effort to see the other side of
things. Now I've grown older (and wiser, I hope) I can see both sides of an
issue and consequently have become more conservative about a lot of issues.

Also, I live for Fridays now. If you'd told me back then I'd be 'TGIF'
every week, I'd have said you were being too 'plastic' and 'establishment.'
How the world of work corrupts us! LOL
