Hi Kat,

I suppose one could say selfish - but some people just seem to be
born without the empathy caring gene for others. I have stayed static on
my views - I am pro-choice for others not myself. Amber holds the same
view. I firmly believe there are people who don't need to have children
and it is only a gift to the child - to return them to the Goddess who
will then bestow them on someone else or if you are Christian - go to
play with Jesus in the fields of Heaven. Life philosophy has lot to do
with how we look at ethical issues.

There are things worse than death - however I sincerely doubt having a
disability or a disabled child rates on that scale - having said that -
I have concerns that disabled people who are resented - they must have
twice as bad a time as an able bodied child - who eventually gets away
from the abuser. The question doesn't have an easy - one answer fits
all. We have no compunction to put out deathly ill or decrepitly old
animals to sleep yet we deny people this - and are suppose to be
compassionate.

I prayed for death - Kat - when I was being beaten and raped and told
what a worthless piece of trash I was - and this by my parents - and I
am under 5 years of age at the time. We have a long way to go before we
are actually civilized. Every child a wanted child..... I say.

You mean a selfish person, don't you=3F I am pro-choice only if the
mothe=

life is in danger=2E I used to be more broad in my pro-choice views but
a=

I've gotten older, I've come to think such a choice that's made only
because the baby would have a disability is wrong and against life for
life's sake=2E =20

Kendall,=20

I remember asking the doctor if he was going to do the tests they do
on older moms to make sure the baby is okay=2E And he came back with -
was=

it going to make any difference as to what I was going to do=2E I said
no
and he said Good, then we don't need to do them=2E I have admit - I had
not thought out what the answer would be=2E It was one of those gut
reactions=2E It seems to be not only an ethical question on the part of
the medical community but the individual=2E Having said that I am other
people oriented - perhaps a person oriented primarily to themselves -
would have answered differently=2E=20
