Paralympic Coverage Surpasses Previous Showing: 

As the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games are only a few days away, more and more
broadcasters are announcing their increased coverage and schedules for this
year's highlight. The Paralympics will be held from 6 to 17 September and
are available for viewing all around the world. "It is a thrill to see the
audience that we will be reaching with the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
With over 1,000 hours of coverage, this is by far the largest broadcast of
Paralympic Sport, and I welcome each and every viewer to take advantage of
this opportunity to witness these exciting Paralympic Games", said Sir

Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games

Starting 15 August, the Beijing 2008 Organizing Committee (BOCOG) started
printing and selling tickets for events of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games
in designated Bank of China locations in Beijing and co-host cities. Since
20 June, when public ticket sales for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games
started, 50,000 tickets have been sold. For the convenience of consumers,
the Beijing 2008 Ticketing Centre has authorized an additional channel for
ticket sales through Bank of China outlets. (read more.)

Vancouver 2010: 

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games (VANOC) is pleased to welcome eight new companies to its
Official Licensee Programme. The licensees will develop and sell products
bearing Vancouver 2010 emblems and the Olympic and Paralympic brands. (read

Passengers will feel the benefits of improved transport services around the
Olympic Park two years before the Games start. Other transport projects that
will be finished well before the Games include the extension of the Dockland
Light Rail (DLR) service from two-car trains to a three-car train service,
boosting on-board capacity by 50% cent on the majority of the network. New
trains, platforms, lifts and bigger stations are all being added to enhance

Canada: 

Two recent contests, held in conjunction with Petro-Canada's Paralympic
School Programme "It's the Real Deal", gave the winners the chance to
display and distribute their independently designed work at the Paralympic
Games. The first contest was a nationwide Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games
Poster competition. Canadian students had the chance to create artwork that
represents the theme, "One Dream, Becoming Better Together". The three
winning posters were selected by the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) and
will be hung in the Athletes' Village in Beijing, as well as at various
sporting events across Canada. (read more...)

Great Britain: 

As the British Paralympic Team prepares to head to Beijing, the BT Group
celebrates its partnership with the British Paralympic Association by
helping to raise donations online with its products and services. BT has
selected a range of easy-to-use products that, when purchased, will result
in a donation to the ParalympicsGB campaign. This will help to invest in the
future of disability sport in Great Britain, both in the run up to London
2012 and beyond. BT helped to create the campaign film, which can be viewed

Harmonious Co-operation Leads to Success at 2008 ICSEMIS: 

From 1 to 4 August, the 2008 International Convention on Science, Education
and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS) took place in Guangzhou, China. More than
1,500 attendees, representing 40 different countries, enjoyed 350 oral
presentations, 1,000 poster presentations and a series of workshops in the
wide area of sports science, sports education and sports medicine.  (read

Boccia: 

Shortly before the start of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, the 2nd
Singapore Boccia Invitational Open 2008 were recently held from 30 July to 2
August in Singapore at the Jurong East Sports Hall. This is the second time
Singapore has hosted the Boccia Open. The first was held last year and only
saw the participation of four countries. This year the event saw a
tremendous rise in participation with nine countries competing, including
Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Macau, Republic of
Korea, Thailand and Singapore. (read more.)

Video Commercial for Beijing Paralympic Games: 

The German Bertelsmann Group has released a video commercial for the Beijing
2008 Paralympic Games. The clip, designed to create awareness for the
Paralympic Games with the motto "Performance Knows no Handicap," is aired on
channels of the German RTL media group and worldwide in German and English
language on Deutsche Welle TV. (read more.)

ISAPA 2009 Announced-Call for Abstracts: 

The details for the 17th International Symposium of Adapted Physical
Activity (ISAPA) were officially announced earlier this month. The ISAPA
2009 conference will be held in Gaevle, Sweden, from 23 to 27 June. The
event is organized by the Swedish Development Centre for Disability Sport
