Now I know why the list gets sooooo quiet sometimes - you all start having 
private conversations! So let this show the entire list that I am sorry to 
have caused so much fuss with my errant full-article posting. I apologize 
proooofuuuuusely. OK, not really "profusely". 'Twas but a brain burp caused 
by an uncooperative URL (wouldn't copy over correctly) and a hasty need to 
get back to work. I'll try to be better next time. Promise! Can I have my 
header back now? I may need it later... Thanx!

What back channel talk?  I figured there was some (maybe a lot) and it makes sense.  I've even done it myself when I didn't think the rest of the list needed or would want to take part.

So did you get whacked for "diarrhea of the keyboard" (pardon the image--see the NPR story today on how to clean it up)?

Thank you for the story on Jane Jacobs.  I'd heard a bit about her passing on NPR but it was nice to get a little more.
