To test cast iron drain lines, we use an inflatable rubber stopper.

I wonder if you can lower the stopper to the bottom of the leader, inflate
it, then use one of the colored smoke bombs that are used to test chimneys
and ductwork?

Are these internal CI leaders or relatively short 'eave tubes' that are
connected to exterior sheet metal spouting?
