A friend of mine had been involved with the house for over ten years and
presented a number of scenarios to save it. The owner wants $300,000
more the the highest appraised value though ($425,000) and therefore no
foundation will touch it. Of course it is located in the midst of a dead
shopping mall, an industrial park, a tacky housing development, airport
and strip mine. The owner is a pain in the you know what and thinks he
will get more money by cutting the baby in half! Very sad.....

I remember it from about 30 years ago when I lived in the area, tried to
get it recognized and helped save it then, but after 25 years of limbo,
it seems to be threatened to become architectural salvage. Although the
house is spectacular, the general area is not a pretty place to live,
believe me.

Subject: BP Headquarters?

The early 19th century NHL Meason Mansion in western PA (same county as
Fallingwater) is up for sale on Ebay. This wonderful stone house is to
be dismanteled and moved. Sounds like a lot of personal crap has gone
on between the owners and neighbors resulting in poor attitudes and bad
manners. Only two weeks left for bidding on what may become a heap of
outrageously nice stonework..

A good article on the background can be found at:

Think the house could be taken down, moved, and reerected every year at
the site of the IPTW?
