>The ironic thing is, the closer the dad is to this, the
sluttier his daughter is. Putting up with it is fine,
because you know she's gonna put out.<

Concurs with my field research in what Ralph would call my yout'. The
wildest girl at college was the Baptist minister's daughter who had never
been on a date or had a drink before leaving home for college.

Also illicit activity could happen at any time, a point not apparently
noticed by the parent who set an 11pm curfew but was at work all day--and
school let out at 3.

This is not to condone these activities, nor to slight the concerns of
parents. But it also seems to me that the father who wrote those warnings
was 1) not showing any confidence in his daughter's morals or will power,
2) not showing any confidence in his own ability to convey a moral code to
her, 3) objectifying her just as much as he might fear the young man would,
4) quite possibly troubled by a bad conscience and a good memory. As my
mama said, the wildest kids often grow up to be the strictest parents. But
I have the greatest sympathy for a father of nubile daughters; perhaps an
extreme reaction is understandable. .

I know I'm a bit late posting this as the conversation has moved on, but I
wanted to share these thoughts.
