A similar thing happened to a friend (and co-worker) of mine while driving to work one day but it didn't turn out so well. The bird, perhaps a sparrow or a starling, hit the door post of the car and splattered in the back seat of the car. The car was probably going about 55 mph...

He was amazed that it smelled pretty bad pretty quick (more than a post-mortal dump would've).

Bruce

Subject: [BP] Bird stories

Several years ago I was driving along one of our many scenic dirt roads
minding my own business when something suddenly came flying-literally-
through the drivers side window. Fortunately traffic is scarce and slow
moving on these roads and I was going barely over 20 MPH. Iwas aware of
something flopping around on the floor on the other side of the car. I got
stopped and looked and there was a partridge on the floor of my car. I
opened the door and out she got. Didn't even thank me for the ride!!!!!
