Wrong is a relative term here and requires some sort of objective idea of what
is right. If NYC, or any other American city, was carpet bombed then we may
consider that our current American preservation sense of "right" may be quite
different than it is now. Several BP'rs have noted shifts in perspective in the
history of American preservation. I think we should bear in mind that there are
concurrent perspectives (Poland:Oregon) and that by essence of any sense of
"right" being a humanly arbitrary construct, we cannot say, without risking
stepping into cultural imperialism, that any other perspective is wrong. What
is an oddity to me is that the carpet bombing of Stettin was by American &
Allied forces, and here we wonder what may have been done wrong. At the same
time, I don't think that we need go so far as to accept the perspective of
others as our own, simply because they approach us as either new, more
righteous, or exotic.

I'd like to see some scans from Dresden. I will trade for scans of SF after the
Great Earthquake.
