I am looking for some case studies of spalling of granite paving in cold
climates due to freeze thaw and salt crystalization due to spreading of ice
melt or salt to share with a client. We are restoring a plaza paved with
Kasota Makato and need to respond to the owner's belief that if they replace
the Kasota with granite, they can keep dumping salt on it in the winter,
instead of modifying their maintenance procedures and repairing the original
stone.
