Thought you all might enjoy a bit of a discussion from H-Rural on why timber
framers nail a tree to the ridge or gable framing when they are done. Do you
have any other good stories about this tradition. Anyone have any other
sources for it?

A Michigander friend of mine finished off a timber frame barn with a small
evergreen tree tied to the top. I thought it had something to do with his
Nordic heritage.

Mary
