I'm surprised that such an urbane, sophisticated man of the world such as
you would be taken in so readily. This "virus" according to the Symantec
Antivirus Research Center is a well-known hoax. Please see:

details on this one. Every warning like this that I've ever seen, and I've
seen a few, have been hoaxes.
