If you have available petrographic analysis information, or would like to
specify a particular mortar strength include this information with the
samples. Indicate the specific surface you wish to have matched for color
(clean cross-section, weathered face, etc.) If existing mortar will be
chemically cleaned, it is advised that you clean the samples with the same
chemicals and procedures before you send them.

The assumption that the latex mortar has to be saturated before it releases
moisture is incorrect. The drying tests (which run from "saturated"
condition to "as dry as it's going to get under ambient conditions") are
actually a series of data points that show initially large and then
decreasing rates of weight change. The shape of the curve is pretty much
the same for latex modified and unmodified mortars.
