An interesting museum that has dealt with many of these 'Colonial Revival'
issues is Tudor Place in Georgetown.

I visited during a Colonial Revival symposium, put on by the DAR and the
Victorian Society this past spring. The building, as I recall, is originally
late 18th- early 19th century, with several large additions, and its
collections range throughout those periods.

I think the staff has done a great job in breaking down the layers of history
on the house, and differentiating them, but maintaining the building as a
whole. I think the key is, they interpret the build as a 20th century
structure, and describe the continuum of the building's history.

Waving from the verandah,
Heidi
