Anybody remember seeing a photo in, I think, Old House Journal of a vinyl
clad house that was next door to a house that burned? The white vinyl had
partially melted all down two sides of the house. It was Dali-esque, but for
the lack of timepieces.

"Vinyl or aluminum siding may reduce exterior maintenance, but is it
permanent? ...Vinyl can actually melt and crack and, like all plastic, it
expands and contracts....Imagine a vinyl record tha warps when left out in
the hot sun."
