I noticed this early on in my career. Stained glass seems to market itself
and would be a good speciality to go into because of this. More times than I
want to remember church boards and committees decided to restore their
stained glass while passing over my proposals to fix the gutters (which
leaks were causing the damage the stained glass), fix roof leaks, or, Lord
forbid, set up a preventive maintenance program the saving on which would,
over the long-term, pay for all the needed maintenance including the stained
glass. After a while I got over the frustration and learned to leave a
positive impression behind. After a few years or decades they always came
back to have the needed work done (when it cost much more of course).
