For some of us who live a long way away from this debate, Minnesota is represented by the (not-so-mythical) "News from Lake Wobegon" on Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion variety show on PBR back in the 1980s.  My first visit to Minnesota took me up into the country around the real Lake Wobegon ... and it really didn't seem too different!
