That "shoes in a wire cage on your car roof" was an "in" thing there for a
while in Ithaca (late 70's?). Must've been a private joke of some sort. I
remember someone (Peggy Haine?) had a pair of very old (maybe very early
1900s) women's shoes (the kind that had about a 1-1/2 inch heel, looked
pretty small, and laced up about three inches above the ankle--must've taken
forever to put on) in a cage on their roof.

Ken - I still have that Gibian stone VW in the woods Ithaca Journal article
I mean to send to you. It'll be real yellow by the time I get around to it
(if it isn't already).

Bruce

I'm reminded many many years back the Gibian brothers built cages that
they attached to the tops of their cars and put a pair of shoes in them
and drove around town - Ithaca - for quite some time in that manner. As
I know it currently Peter is an English prof at McGill, Mark a top rate
sculptor w/ real estate investements at Northside and swampland at New
Paltz, and Steve (builder of the stone VW) went from drywall stonemason
to archichoke.
