The rock wool that was in the ceiling of my house additions dating between 1932 and 1941 was paper-backed batts on which the words "Rock Wool" were preceded by the word "Manville." So I've always been wondering what other minerals might have been contained in the batts in my belfrey....

In my house it is a natural mixture of fluffy grey stuff, mouse turds and
sawdust chips.
