I actually know or know of a number of gay men in various preservation
careers, whether it's historians, conservators, masons, etc. I don't care
what their sexual orientation is as long as they care and do their jobs
well.

On a related note, there have been a couple of items in "Preservation"
magazine relatively recently on gays in preservation. One was one of those
back-page editorials in which I believe Dwight (the columnist) outs himself
to the unwary reader, and another article on preservation in historically
gay neighborhoods in San Francisco.

On a related note, I remember some years ago seeing a request from a
Columbia
student, looking for info on the history and importance of gay men in Histo
Presto. That may be where the men--well, some of them, went.
