Having spent 6 months on all 4 elevations of Goodhue's masterpiece; the
Nebraska State capital .........there are a few things interesting to note

It was originally designed as a hall of records; ( 20's Masonic -ethereal
mo-dern)
this makes sense as it is totally inefficient for people or offices for
that matter
the elevator is 3 persons as it supposed to hold books and one man
the rooms are cramped and built for storage (books )
However the library is excellent and awe inspiring
the masonic influences found throughout the assembly and hearing rooms are
wonderful ( the Masonic Hall is just across the green)
The holy of holies is the hall of remembrance which you forgot to mention or
didn't get to this is at the top ;eight sided room in VT , green marble
listing the dead for the first war ; then all wars ....
outside we( Mark 1 chicago) replaced the mortar with original lime putty
mix ( the portland was cracking it to pieces)
the cleaning was gommage ( alum silicate 100 mics) Downtown Linclon and the
older neighborhoods was passed over in the expansions of the malls and white
flight of the 60's and 70's ; there are however great older residential
neighborhoods near the capital and around that you could pick up and arts and crafts
bungalow and a acre for cheap in the early 90's good book stores and better
junk stores than Ive seen in a long time ; as a cattle town its hard to get a
veggie plate anywhere ; its hot hot in the summer and freezes hard in the
winter; and the good strip bars are out on the highway. Pyrate
