I don't know if my building would be considered good case data or not...
circa 1750 wood frame farmhouse with circa 1840 addition. We had the building
painted about 5 years ago. Had a contractor who was recommended to us do the
work, used a Benjamin Moore paint, and (to quote Mark) prepped the hell out
of the building... lots of hand scraping and attention to detail. I think the
prep work took about twice as long as the paint work.

5 years later: had to reapply some paint on the porch floors that get heavy
wear, and we need to touch up the window sills. Otherwise, the paint looks
almost as fresh as when it was first applied.
