I have also heard of talcum powder but have not tried it - yet. I had my
un-squeaking floors refinished last year and now...

It all seems a bit dangerous - talcum or graphite on a varnished wood floor
with stocking footed kids wife and I is probably more slippery than I want
so I am not rushing into this wholesale anyway.

Subject: graphite & floor squeaks...

My strip oak floors (laid on wood sleepers on concrete base) have squeaked
ever since we moved in in certain locations - like right next to my sleeping
wife as I go in and out of our BR Saturday morning.

I have squeaked plenty of graphite on the joints on either side (some tight,
some open 1/16th ") but can't really notice a different. There is
observable movement in the strip oak, so it's probably not the subfloor.
Has anyone here ever used the graphite method? Am I just not using enough?

Christopher PS Or maybe I should use wax.
