REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
(or recommendations)

From time to time, I have a desire to have samples of
historic mortars subjected to torturous testing
regimes, ground down until they are transparent,
blinded with searing light, and prodded point by point
until they give up their secrets of birth.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find anybody in
Australia sufficiently twisted or deviant enough to
specialise in carrying out this work - most of the
petrographers I've come across are more interested in
hard rocks and mineralisation ...

So, what I'm looking for is offers or recommendations
of petrographers who have extensive experience in
carrying out petrographic analyses of historic mortars
(and maybe one day, concrete). I'm happy to receive
responses via the forum, especially if they are
appropriately worded, or you can send me offers of
unlimited wealth backchannel direct to my email
address above.

Current project opportunity is limited to a couple of
specimens on a 1920s sandstone spire to a cathedral,
but likely to be an assortment of specimens on an
ongoing basis. ][<en can vouch for my ability to
deliver payment in Australian red wine ...

Cheers

david west
